Hot off the press is the results from the 2010 WineWise small vignerons awards held in July with DogRocks yet to be released 2009 Degraves Road Icon Red topping its class with a gold medal and 56/60 points. This is this wines first wine show and is a fantastic result considering that DogRock Wineries 2008 Degraves Road Icon Red was recently awarded 96/100 byJames Halliday. This comes on the back of winning the 2010 WineWise Championship Gold Medallion for Best Grenache or Grenache Blend to bring the tally to 2 Trophies, 2 gold medals and a bronze from only 3 wine events.

DogRock is pleased to announce that a new wine distributor has been appointed in Melbourne in Vino Bambino. Mark and Michelle Singarella are two young people who have decided to start their own business. More information can be seen on the distribution page.

DogRock Winery cellar door will re-open on weekends from Sunday September 5th 2010. During the week we are open by appointment only. Look out for DogRock at the September 12th Ararat Farmers Market and the Ballarat Taste also on September 12th. We are also very happy to announce that from September 19th onwards we will be at the prestigeous Talbot Farmers Market held on the third Sunday of each month.

A toast to being Environmentally Responsible with world class wines

 

DogRock winery was thrilled to be joint recipients of the Environmental Responsibility Award at the 2009 Powercor Grampians Pyrenees Small Business Achievement Awards. This coveted prize was won by DogRock for the second time with success in 2007 reward for being one of the regions more environmentally focused businesses. The award was accepted on behalf of DogRock winery by owner Allen Harts daughter Elyssa Hart at a gala dinner in the Ararat Performing Arts Centre on Friday 2nd October. “I know Dad and Andrea will be thrilled” said Elyssa upon accepting the award in front of over 300 people. The award was in recognition to the property being external to the power grid with the house and winery being powered by a wind generator and solar panels while many thousands of trees have also been planted back on the hillsides surrounding the vineyards. Other initiatives such as recycled packaging and building design are also part of DogRock wineries environmental plan. The award was shared in 2009 with both Boroka Downs of Halls Gap and DogRock winery being declared joint winners for all their hard work.

 

After 11 of the last 12 years in corporate life Allen has hung up his mobile phone and laptop to pursue DogRock on a full time basis. This enable's anyone who wishes to visit the spectacular cellar door and taste the wines to simply make an appointment any day of the week between 10 am or 5pm and we will be there to greet you.
